The adaptive rowing program at Atlanta Rowing Club offers an opportunity for local athletes with physical, visual, or intellectual disabilities to engage in sports at a competitive or recreational level. Started by coaches Wendy Sbarra and Bryce Chung with the help of ARC members Daniel Wolff, Tory Vornholt, Teresa Wright, Tracy Norman, Ghais Issa, and Ka’rin Gardner the program offers two coaching options: Para Learn-to-Row and Para On-Demand.
In addition to providing coaching for para rowers, the adaptive rowing program, Southeastern Adaptive Scullers, is dedicated to promoting the sport through competition and general awareness. This year SEAS is hosting its first adaptive rowing regatta, the Chattahoochee Adaptive Sprints in Atlanta, GA and is looking forward to welcoming teams from the southeastern region. For the past few years, the Head of the Hooch, directed by Daniel Wolff, has also been working to extend its competitive heats to adaptive rowers. Also check out our calendar for other events in the local area.
